Getting Started Questions

Q: What is Page and who is it for?

A: Page is a government relations monitoring platform designed for government relations professionals, regulatory affairs, public affairs consultants, policy analysts, and anyone who needs to track government activities across Canada and the United States.

Q: Which governments does Page monitor?

A: Page monitors Canada and the United States Federal and Provincial/State governments. The specific governments available to your organization depend on your plan and configuration.

Q: How do I get access to Page?

A: Your organization administrator needs to create an account for you. You'll receive an email invitation to set up your Page access. Contact your administrator if you need an account.

Client and Topic Questions

Q: How many clients can I create?

A: The number of clients you can create depends on your organization's plan.

Q: What's the difference between Smart and Exact matching?

A: Smart matching uses AI to understand context and catches related discussions even when exact words aren't used. Exact matching only finds content with your specific keywords. Smart is recommended for most use cases.

Q: How many topics should I create per client?

A: Most clients work well with 5-15 topics. Too few topics may miss relevant activity, too many may create noise. Start with your core areas of interest and add more topics as needed based on the quality of takeaways you receive.

Q: Can I edit topics after creating them?

A: Yes, you can edit topics at any time. Changes take effect immediately and will influence future takeaways, but won't retroactively change existing takeaways.

Q: What's the "name topic" that's automatically created?

A: When you create a client, Page automatically creates a topic that monitors mentions of the client's name. This ensures you catch direct references without having to add the client name to other topics. You can edit or disable this topic if needed.

Takeaway Questions

Q: Why am I getting too many irrelevant takeaways?

A: This usually means your topics are too broad or vague. Try:

  • Making your keywords more specific

  • Adding context to explain what you're looking for

Q: Why am I not getting any takeaways?

A: Several possible reasons:

  • Your client isn't activated yet - check the client profile

  • Your topics are too narrow or specific - broaden keywords or add variations

  • There hasn't been relevant government activity - this is normal during recesses or quiet periods

  • You may need to ensure you've selected relevant jurisdictions

Q: How often are new takeaways generated?

A: You can follow meetings and pressers live. Summaries and Takeaways are generated continuously as new government content is published and analyzed. Takeaways are generally available within minutes of the meeting ending.

Q: Can I get email notifications for new takeaways?

A: Yes! You can setup your notifications in your user settings found by clicking the gear icon in the bottom left

Search and Data Questions

Q: How current is Page's data?

A: Page continuously updates with new government activity:

  • Meetings - Typically available within minutes after they conclude

  • Bills - Updated as governments publish changes

  • Publications - Updated as they're published

  • News - Refreshed throughout the day

  • Consultations - Added as governments announce them

Q: Can I see historical data from before my organization joined Page?

A: Yes, Page's database includes historical government activities. The specific historical coverage varies by government and content type.

Wonk Questions

Q: What's the difference between Wonk and regular search?

A: Wonk is an AI assistant that understands natural language questions and provides synthesized answers with citations. Meeting search finds specific items by keywords. Wonk is better for questions like "What did X say about Y?" while search is better for finding a specific bill number or committee name.

Q: What's the difference between Chat and Ask Wonk?

A: They're both Wonk under the hood. The primary difference is when you use Ask Wonk, it focuses Wonk on the specific page you're looking at. This allows you to deep dive on a specific Meeting, Takeaway or other insight.

Notes and Organization Questions

Q: What's the difference between note visibility options?

A:

  • Personal - Only you can see the note

  • Client-only - Users with access to that client can see it

  • Organization - All users in your organization can see it

Choose based on whether the note is for you alone, your client team, or the whole organization.

Technical Issues

Q: What browsers does Page support?

A: Page works best on modern browsers:

  • Chrome (recommended)

  • Firefox

  • Safari

  • Edge

Keep your browser updated to the latest version for best performance.

Q: I can't log in. What should I do?

A:

  • Try resetting your password through the login page

  • Ensure your account hasn't been deactivated - contact your administrator

  • Contact support if you continue to have trouble

Q: A PDF export failed or won't download. What should I do?

A:

  • Try exporting again - temporary processing errors can occur

  • Contact support if exports consistently fail

Best Practices and Tips

Q: What's the best way to monitor multiple similar topics?

A: Create separate topics for each distinct area rather than combining them. For example, create separate topics for "carbon pricing" and "renewable energy subsidies" rather than one broad "climate policy" topic. This gives you better control and more targeted takeaways.

Q: How should I organize clients if I work on multiple related issues for one organization?

A: You have two options:

  • One client with multiple topics - If the issues are related and you want consolidated takeaways

  • Multiple clients - If the issues are distinct and you want to keep them separate for reporting or team management purposes

Choose based on how you need to report and organize your work.

Data and Privacy

Q: Is my client data secure?

A: Yes, client data is never shared outside your organization. Your topics, notes, and configuration are private to your organization. All data transmission is encrypted.

Q: Where does Page get its data?

A: All data comes from official government sources - legislative websites, official transcripts, government news feeds, and public records. Page does not modify or editorialize source data, only analyzes and summarizes it.

Q: Can other organizations see my clients or topics?

A: No, your client profiles, topics, and configuration are completely private to your organization. Your data is yours alone.
